Black Star Oil Company provides all the services required in running a successful petroleum company.
The president of the corporation, Gary Carter, is a geoscientist (University of Texas at Austin, BS in Geological Sciences, 1976) with 23 years experience as a successful explorationist and exploitationist. Drilling prospects generated or screened by Carter have resulted in dozens of wells being drilled from the Texas Gulf Coast to the Williston Basin of North Dakota. His experience extends to the offshore, particularly off the eastern seaboard. Many of his wells have resulted in new field discoveries. Carter's trait of thinking "out of the box" has paid off by the recognition of new and overlooked pays. He believes and participates in a continuing education program, especially with the availability of the exciting new risk-reducing technologies of today. A reliance upon a network of regional specialists has been invaluable in the understanding of successful strategies in specific geographical areas. The maintenance of a chosen group of industry associates has provided significant marketing opportunities. He is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).
In addition, for the past 15 years, he has performed in the various duties normally reserved for the company engineer. His experience in oversight of the drilling, completion, and production engineering functions is noteworthy by his attention to cost management. Carter's negotiations result in providing quality third party services at surprising savings, compared to many other operators in a given area. As a registered operator with the Texas Railroad Commission, Black Star Oil Company is well acquainted with the various reporting requirements. Gary Carter has appeared as a qualified expert witness at a successful Commission hearing. Once again, a network of specialists has proven invaluable when it comes to the handling of unusual regulatory circumstances which occasionally occur.
Land services have been handled directly or through close associates with whom business relationships have existed for years. Carter has become quite proficient in the research of missing parties when it comes to locating mineral owners (including persons adopted as infants, living in other countries, who had no idea of their ownership inherited from a birth-family they never knew!). Title work and opinions are handled through an associate Texas title attorney known for a meticulous attention to detail.
NOTE: Due to the recent increase in activity, our daily rate for geoscientific consulting will go back to $600/day, plus expenses, effective November 1, 1999. As before, there is a one day minimum, thereafter billed in half day increments. Special rates may be available for retainer relationships. Please let us know how we can be of help.
